Working with the YMCA

Transpacific has teamed up with the YMCA to offer a public place recycling solution throughout 30 YMCA sites in Victoria.
Prior to commencing the program, Transpacific conducted an audit of each site to determine the most suitable bin locations to ensure easy, top-of mind recycling and waste management.
Bob Anderson from YMCA said: “With Transpacific’s help, our centres are now optimising recycling to help us decrease the waste going to landfill.”
Ultimately, the YMCA aims to divert 56-60 per cent of the organisation’s recyclables from landfill.
The YMCA’s patrons are recycling many of the items consumed within YMCA facilities, including water bottles, magazines and paper towels.
It’s not just the patrons at YMCA pools, community centres and indoor sporting facilities that are in on the action. YMCA offices are also playing their part by recycling items such as paper, cardboard, e-waste and fluoro tubes.
Together, Transpacific and YMCA have created a successful program based on bin location, education and good signage to help reinforce the importance of recycling.
The YMCA is a community based charity that delivers programs and services to help build strong people, strong families and strong communities from over 500 YMCA centres across Australia.
