> Transpacific’s emergency response team helps clean up after a fine vintage wine incident.

The Transpacific emergency spills crew in Adelaide successfully cleaned up more than 15,000 litres of red wine after it was spilled across a busy road.

The wine spilled from a tanker when it rolled while travelling along Hanson Rd at Wingfield in South Australia.

Transpacific Operations Manager Lachlan Reeks said the spills crew had the 30m by 15m site cleaned up within two hours.

“This spill occurred on the major highway that links the Port of Adelaide to a major industrial hub, so it was important that we acted quickly,” he said.

A Transpacific Western Star liquid truck vacuum sucked about 8000 litres of wine from the tanker so it could be set back on its wheels.

A member of our team used spill absorbent to help remove spilled engine oil from the road, while a Transpacific contractor used a street sweeper with high pressure washers to remove the residual wine and oil from the road.

“All of our services were interlinked and each step of the process was essential to help Emergency Service crews reopen the road to peak hour traffic,” Lachlan said.
